The Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) group of companies is a leading risk management adviser and insurance and reinsurance broker. JLT is also a major provider of employee benefit administration services and related consultancy advice. JLT is quoted on the London Stock Exchange, is the largest European headquartered company providing these services and is one of the largest firms of its type in the world. JLT operates out of more than 100 offices in over 30 countries and employs more than 5,000 staff.
Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group was formed in February 1997 by the merger of Jardine Insurance Brokers (JIB) and Lloyd Thompson Group.
Lloyd Thompson was founded in 1981 and listed on the London Stock Exchange in October 1987. The merger combined Lloyd Thompson's specialist skills in the London market with JIB's international network.
Since the merger, the Group has continued to expand its international presence acquiring insurance and reinsurance broking businesses in Colombia, Peru and Mexico in late 2004. Most recently, JLT received approval from the Chinese regulatory authorities to commence operating as an insurance and reinsurance broker in China.
In January 2006, JLT Group established JLT Re, a dedicated reinsurance broking and consultancy operation, under separate management, to meet the changing needs of our reinsurance clients worldwide. Headquartered in London, JLT Re runs an international network of offices, with the three main centres of excellence in London, New York and Singapore.
