Christchurch Earthquake: Key Facts

On 22 February 2011, a M6.3 earthquake struck near Christchurch, the second largest city in New Zealand. Around 100,000 claims are predicted to result from the disaster by the New Zealand's Earthquake Commission (EQC), and the current industry insured losses estimated by two of the catastrophe modelling companies range between US$1.5bn and US$8.0bn..
