Cyclone Yasi: Update

Since the initial report on 2 February, Cyclone Yasi has made landfall as a Category 4 storm near Mission Beach in northeast Queensland, recording the maximum sustained windspeed of 180mph. AIR Worldwide estimates a loss from buildings and contents damage for the residential and commercial properties to range between AU$350mn and AU$1.5bn. The Bureau of Meteorology predicts more destructive cyclones to come during the cyclone season that ends in April. Read full report…
