Japan Earthquake: Key Facts

On 11 March 2011, an earthquake measuring M8.9 struck near the east of Honshu at 14:46 local time (05:46 GMT). The Japanese Meteorological Agency has issued a major tsunami alert along the eastern coast of Japan, advising people to stay away from the coast. A tsunami warning has been in place for the countries in the Pacific Basin. Read full report…
