Florida’s specialty and vegetable crop markets are in crisis following the 2017 hurricane season. Hurricane Irma first made landfall in the Florida Keys on September 10th as a Category 4 hurricane, bringing widespread storm surge and wind fields extending nearly 500 miles. The storm demolished harvests across Florida from uprooted trees, drowned crops, and flooded groves.
